Brand new gym at Orford Hub unveiled

The equipment, provided by Technogym – who kitted out the training centres during the London 2012 Olympic Games – brings the latest technology to the fitness suite.

A mix of traditional cardiovascular and resistance equipment has been installed, which is complemented by Technogym’s new ‘skill’ range of functional equipment; Skillmills and Skillrows.

LiveWire is one of the first leisure providers in the UK to install the new Skillrows, along with Technogym’s new ‘climb’ machines.

A new layout and design has also been incorporated to provide more space for functional training – a type of exercise which involves training the body for activities performed in everyday life.

The new gym also features a speed track with sled pull, along with a larger matted area created for floor work, core exercises, and stretching.

A new floor, improved water fountains, upgraded date points, and new decoration have also been part of the refurbishment.

LiveWire members attended an exclusive launch event this week (Wednesday 19 July) where master trainers from Technogym provided demos on the new equipment and encouraged gym users to take part in challenges to win fitness themed prizes.

Fitness industry favourites My Protein and Decathlon were also on hand to give out free samples and provide exercise and nutrition advice.

Kev Forester, commercial manager at LiveWire, said: “It was great to see so many people taking part in the challenges and trying out the new equipment.

“The skillmills, skillrows, and climb machines really push users to get the most out of their workouts – combining power, cardio, and functional training in easy-to-follow programme routines.

“We have also upgraded our traditional equipment, including treadmills, cross-trainers, and free weights. Come along and try it out for yourself, there’s something for everyone.”

LiveWire is currently running an offer until 20 August 2017, where new users who join any of LiveWire’s leisure centres or neighbourhood hubs across the town get their first four weeks for just £20. To find out more, please visit
