LiveWire libraries boost reading with winter mini challenge

Libraries across Warrington are taking part in The Reading Agency’s mini challenge to help boost reading over the winter months (Thursday 1st December to Monday 20th February).

The winter mini challenge encourages children to keep up their reading habits over the winter holidays, with a free-to-access website featuring rewards for reading and reviewing books.

The challenge is presented in partnership with The Reading Agency and Science Museum Group. Now that it’s getting chilly and the winter holidays are approaching, LiveWire libraries across the town are back with even more fun experiments and reading encouragement.

Cool do-it-at-home experiments

Children can join the Gadgeteers as they use their ingenuity and creativity to keep everyone entertained during a snowstorm. Get ready for cool do-it-at-home experiments and learn along the way as you read for pleasure with the winter mini challenge!

To take part, children simply read three or more books – these can be any books of their choice. Every time they finish a book, they add it to their Challenge website profile and leave a short book review.

Reaching their online reading goal will unlock a virtual badge and a special Everyone Is A Hero certificate to print off and keep!

We’ll also have a whole host of fun activities, videos and reading recommendations, plus an exciting competition.

Keep your eyes peeled for activities on the official website for the winter challenge.
