LiveWire ‘Pedal Power’ raises over £700 for Children in Need appeal
LiveWire staff and customers cycled over 1,200 miles and raised over £700 for Children in Need on Friday 15th November.
LiveWire was supporting the annual BBC fundraising extravaganza Children in Need across its 6 leisure sites in Warrington.
The health and wellbeing Community Interest Company took inspiration from the celebrity ‘Rickshaw Challenge’ that saw television presenter Matt Baker and a group of young people cycling 400 miles around Britain on a rickshaw.
LiveWire was bidding to replicate this challenge on stationary bikes in reception areas at its neighbourhood hubs and leisure centres across the borough – with the aim to cycle 400miles collectively on the day.
In fact the final tally was 1,242 miles cycled – the equivalent to three Rickshaw Challenges. Culcheth Community Campus cycled the furthest on the day with a massive 232 miles.
Staff took it in turns to ride the bikes with customers also encouraged to jump on and have a go – in exchange for a donation to the Children in Need appeal.
The total raised on the day was £733.38.
Emma Hutchinson, Managing Director of LiveWire, said: “LiveWire staff and customers alike had a lot of fun on Friday using pedal power to raise hundreds of pounds for a very worthy cause. Children in Need is a fantastic event we were delighted to support. Well done to everyone who took part and a huge thank you to everyone who generously donated.”
