Join ‘Ready, Set, Read!’ summer reading challenge!
LiveWire Libraries, in partnership with the Youth Sport Trust, is pleased to announce this year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme – “Ready, Set, Read!”.
Combining access to books with fun and creative activities, the challenge is set to keep children’s minds and bodies active throughout the summer holidays.
Centred on games, sports, and play, the challenge navigates children through a fictional summer obstacle course. Starting Saturday 8th July and running until Sunday 10th September, children are invited to sign up at their local LiveWire library and receive a “Ready, Set, Read!” collector folder.
Participants are encouraged to borrow and read at least six library books – or ebooks – of their choice during the summer, collecting special stickers along the way to complete their folder and win incentives.
Library staff and young volunteers will be available to advise, run family-friendly activities, and celebrate the joy of reading. For details about upcoming events, participants can ask library staff or check out our Facebook and Instagram pages.
Every child who completes the Summer Reading Challenge will be awarded a certificate and a medal, recognising their dedication and achievement.
Additionally, this year, we are extending the fun to the littlest readers as well. Pre-schoolers up to 4 years of age are invited to get involved with their very own mini challenge.
Embrace the power of books and the excitement of physical activity in one unique challenge this summer with LiveWire Libraries. It’s fun, it’s engaging, and best of all, it’s FREE!
We can’t wait to see you there and get Ready, Set, Reading!
