The Lifestyles Reach for Health programme will support you to get back into exercise and lead a healthier lifestyle. Don't worry if you haven't exercised for a while, you will meet with our friendly, expert advisors who will discuss all the options that are available to you. You can then discuss your medical history and fitness goals to design an exercise programme/regime which will specifically meet your needs.

There are a range of activities that are available for you to attend including low impact circuits, Tai Chi and health walks.

We will support you all the way with regular review appointments over 4, 8 and 12 week periods to ensure that you are enjoying the exercise and progressing towards achieving your goals. We can also offer you handy tips as to how to manage your diet in line with a healthy lifestyle.

The Stay on Your Feet scheme is predominately for people aged 65 and over that want to get involved in a weekly exercise class to progressively improve overall fitness.

The 8 week programme consists of a weekly 1.5 hour session which is designed to help improve balance, flexibility and co-ordination as well as increasing muscle strength, cardiovascular fitness and flexibility.

A typical 1.5 hour session includes

  • a 45 minute exercise session which predominately includes a range of exercises, (with a chair for support) and allows you to exercise at your own pace and intensity.
  • a break to have a cuppa and a natter
  • a 30 minute talk about relevant topics to improve health and wellbeing. These include talks about oral health from the dental health nurse and a nutrition and healthy weight talk to help manage a healthy weight.
