Introducing the Talented Athletes Programme

Are you an aspiring Olympian or Paralympian? Perhaps you’re striving to become the next Usain Bolt or Ellie Simmonds? Let us help you get there with the LiveWire Talented Athletes Programme!

The Talented Athletes Programme helps young people (14+) hone their skills to progress and excel within their discipline. This is possible due to our extensive leisure facilities and ongoing support from our staff, who are passionate about seeing young people succeed.

With LiveWire being the largest provider of leisure facilities in Warrington, our future athletes will have access to six fitness suites, swimming facilities, sauna and steam rooms, fitness classes and racket sports.

And the best part?

Being successfully chosen for this programme means claiming a FREE annual membership, with all the benefits.

Benefits of joining the programme

Alongside the free annual membership, successful applicants will have regular support on their training programme from one of our personal trainers. Personal trainers are an excellent resource to have on your fitness journey. They can help you specify your personal goals and aspirations, adapt your training plan where necessary and offer additional advice throughout the process.

Our trainers can help you make the most of LiveWire’s top-of-the-range equipment and hundreds of different group exercise classes.

Each Personal Trainer has a specific skill set to suit your needs and training style.

Sam Dickenson

Keeping fit and healthy was always on the agenda for Samuel Dickenson. However, with help from the Talented Athletes Programme, he achieved a childhood dream in the rugby industry.

From aged 5, Samuel played in his local amateur rugby league, the Woolston Rovers Golds. It was at this point that he felt at home, and knew he wanted to pursue rugby professionally.

“I played sport from a young age and have always been fiercely competitive”

By 2022, he had the opportunity to represent the Warrington Wolves as a scholarship player. Naturally, he started thinking about becoming a professional athlete. That’s where LiveWire came in. Samuel qualified for the Talented Athletes Programme and started a structured programme to fit around his existing commitments.

The Talented Athletes Programme also helped Samuel adjust to becoming a scholarship player. He notes that strength and conditioning work in the gym were important skills that could be transferred directly to performance on the field.

“The support I have received from everyone over the last two years has made the journey a fun, informative and enjoyable one. It has set me up to succeed and I’m proud and thankful for everything the programme has given me.”

Following a consistent programme at LiveWire enabled Samuel to feel ready for the next stage in his career. The team went on to win the Four Nations Trophy. He also secured Player of the Match for his performance against England. Since his debut, Samuel was not only selected to represent Wales, but also captain the team.

Samuel’s journey has inspired many. From feeling overwhelmed in the gym to being awarded a professional contract with the Warrington Wolves Academy, we’re proud to have been a part of his story so far.

“I could not have done it without the Talented Athletes Programme run by LiveWire.”
