Babies & Toddlers

We have lots of books at all our libraries for babies and toddlers to choose from –it is never too early to read!

All of our libraries run storytimes for our younger members and some have baby rhymetimes too.  Find out more here or contact your local LiveWire library for details.

Children

Building on the successful schemes for adult and young people’s mental health, dementia and long term conditions, there is a booklist to support the mental health and wellbeing of children. The titles provide children and their families and carers with information, advice and support for coping with feelings and worries, daily life and getting through a tough time.

Books have been chosen and endorsed by leading health professionals and co-produced with children and families. The booklist is targeted at children in Key Stage 2 (aged 7-11) but includes a wide range of reading levels to support less confident readers, and to encourage children to read together with their siblings and carers.

Older Children

All of our libraries have a huge selection of books for all reading levels – from Beginner readers to transition books for early teens.

We offer help with homework – lots of information books and Online resources which you can access at home.

All of our libraries run craft, digital and other events for children in school holidays.  Please contact your local LiveWire library for details.

As with all our library members, children have access to eBooks/eAudio with their library membership.

Reading Well For Young People & Adults

Shelf Help is the name of a new scheme aimed at helping young people to understand and manage mental health conditions.

Reading Well for young people recommends expert endorsed books about mental health, providing 13 to 18 year olds with advice and information about issues like anxiety, stress and OCD, and difficult experiences like bullying and exams.

The books have all been recommended by young people and health professionals, and are available to borrow for free from public libraries.

Reading Well provides quality assured information and advice to help young people understand and manage their mental health. The scheme promotes emotional resilience and aims to reduce stigma around mental health issues.

Reading Well for Young People books are available in LiveWire libraries and these books can be reserved for FREE.
