Updated opening hours and new community-led model at Westbrook Library

Westbrook Library has entered a new phase, as it moves to a community led operating model.
Supported by The Friends of Westbrook Library, the new model includes updated opening hours and an expanded programme of activities.
The library, housed within Westbrook Library & Community Centre, will now benefit from strengthened volunteer involvement and closer partnership working with Warrington Borough Council and LiveWire teams. This approach aims to ensure the library continues to play a key role in supporting residents’ wellbeing, learning, and social connection.
Updated opening times and activity information
All library opening hours, activities and events are available via the Living Well Warrington page for Westbrook Library & Community Centre
Activities are also promoted through:
• LiveWire’s social media channels
• The Friends of Westbrook Library’s Facebook page, which has a strong and engaged local following
This ensures that residents have easy access to up to date information about what’s happening in the centre.
Strengthening Westbrook Library as a community hub
LiveWire and Warrington Borough Council are working closely with The Friends of Westbrook Library to help the centre grow and thrive. Current support includes:
• Monthly meetings to review progress and provide ongoing guidance
• Weekly timetable updates for volunteers to ensure full oversight of centre activity
• Quality checks for promotional flyers before publication
• Monitoring of attendance, volunteer involvement and footfall to support future planning
• Additional tables and chairs to support the expanding programme
• Support with DBS checks and ID badges for new volunteers
• Identification of suitable funding opportunities
Westbrook Library & Community Centre is also being added to the council’s website community centres page to help residents find information more easily:
