Aquatics Manager Lauren inspires with London Marathon achievement
Lauren Sanders, our valued Aquatics Manager, recently took on the incredible challenge of running the London Marathon on April 27th. Her experience was nothing short of inspiring, filled with unforgettable moments and a powerful sense of community.
“I’ve never experienced anything quite like the electric atmosphere of the marathon,” Lauren shared. “It was tough in the hot conditions, but the crowd and fellow runners kept me going all the way.” She was supported throughout the race by Will, a dedicated runner from the Richard Whitehead Foundation, who provided encouragement and motivation.

Lauren’s participation was more than just a personal achievement – it was a fundraising effort for Kieran’s Krew, a charity supporting Kieran Shingler, a young man diagnosed with a high-grade cancerous brain tumour in December 2022 at just 23 years old. Lauren explained, “The money we raise will go towards buying a PEMF machine for Kieran, which will help recharge his cells, aiding his memory and recovery.
Thanks to Lauren’s dedication, she raised an incredible £360 for Kieran’s Krew. If you’d like to support her efforts and contribute to the cause, you can still make a donation here.
“As someone who faces daily challenges with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, I hope my story can inspire others to pursue their dreams and overcome adversity,” Lauren said. “Having these conditions makes life tough, but it doesn’t define what I can achieve.”
She added, “I would do it again in a heartbeat and am already planning my next challenge!”

Lauren’s story exemplifies resilience and community spirit, encouraging us all to push beyond our limits.
We are incredibly proud of Lauren’s achievement and her dedication to making a difference.
Keep inspiring us Lauren!
