Using Your Library Card
Your key to a world of books, learning and more. Your LiveWire library card gives you access to every library in Warrington. You can borrow books, listen to audiobooks, and use computers – all with one simple card.

Borrowing books and audiobooks

You can borrow up to 10 books and/or audiobooks for three weeks at a time. Need more time? Just renew your items online or at your local library.

Reserving books

Looking for something we don’t have on the shelf?
  • You can request books from other LiveWire libraries for a small charge:
  • 50p for adults
  • 25p for concessions
  • Free for children
If we don’t have the title in stock, we can check if it’s available elsewhere. We also offer Inter-Library Loans (ILL) for items outside the LiveWire network (non-refundable £6.50 search charge).

Using computers

Your library card gives you one hour of free computer use every day. It’s perfect for checking emails, job searching, or printing documents. [Find out more about using our computers.]

Looking after your card

Bring your library card with you each time you visit. You’re responsible for all items borrowed on it, so please don’t let anyone else use your card. If an item you’ve borrowed is lost or damaged, a replacement charge will apply.

Lost your card?

If your card is lost or stolen, let us know straight away so we can stop anyone else from using it. A replacement card costs £2.50.

Library Charges:

Overdue Charges

Adult charges – Books are issued free for 3 weeks, after which there is a daily charge of 20p per book per day (up to a maximum of £3.00 per book)

Young people charges- Books are issued free for 3 weeks, after which there is a daily charge of 10p per book per day (up to a maximum of £1.00 per book)

Children aged 12 and under- Books are issued free for 3 weeks.  There are no overdue charges on children’s books issued to a child’s ticket. Please note- Adult books issued on a child’s ticket and children’s books borrowed on adult tickets will be charged at the adult rates.

Concessionary rates- Users aged 60 and over and those in receipt of benefits are entitled to receive the reduced rate of 10p per item per day (up to a maximum of £3.00 per book).

Room hire charges

Flat rate of £16 per hour or £55 for a half day or £94 for a full day are charges to hire library space. Please note- There are separate charges to hire space in one of LiveWire’s ‘hub’ buildings.
