Orford Jubilee Park is one of the very best in the UK – and that's official.
The park managed by LiveWire, is among a record-breaking 1,476 parks and green spaces that have received a prestigious Green Flag Award for 2014.
The award, awarded by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.
In April 2013 Community Park Keeper, Alan Nugent joined the LiveWire team to help build on partnerships with local schools and community groups and has worked closely with the Walton Lea Project, Cheshire Probation Service and Cllr's Mike & Kate Hannon and Cllr Kellie Morris to increase the standards of the park and receive this national recognition. Alan has also developed a five year management plan to help sustain and improve all areas of the park to benefit all users.
This year the park has moved from strength to strength, last month Alan and the team along with Golden Gates Housing Trust, Cheshire Probation Trust and The Walton Lea Partnership received Silver in the Show Garden category at Tatton Flower Show 2014. The award winning garden called My Garden will soon be re-built as a permanent feature in Orford Jubilee Park for everyone to enjoy.
