Historic summer championship success for Warrington Warriors

Warrington Warriors Swimming Club, in partnership with LiveWire, is celebrating one of the most successful championship seasons in its history after swimmers achieved outstanding results across the Aquatics GB Next Gen Summer Championships, Swim England Summer Meet, Swim Wales Summer Meet and National Open Water Championships.

The talented squad enjoyed a historic summer, securing an incredible 20 national medals and demonstrating the continued strength and development of the club’s performance programme.

The success began with a record number of swimmers qualifying for the country’s biggest competitions, including the Aquatics GB Next Gen Summer Championships, where Natalie Koleva, Emily Hall, Isla Perry, Iris Hurst, Ethan Craven, Leo Craven, Andrew Clavis, Jess Jones, Chloe Jones, Allanah Donlan and Emily Tabern all earned qualification.

Among the standout performers was Iris Hurst, who claimed two national titles in the 200m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle, alongside a silver medal in the 100m Backstroke. Fellow swimmer Jess Jones secured gold in the 400m Freestyle, while Andrew Clavis delivered an impressive double silver medal performance in the 400m and 800m Freestyle events. Chloe Jones also added to the medal tally with silver in the 200m Butterfly.

At the Aquatics GB Next Gen Summer Championships, Leo Craven won bronze in the 1500m Freestyle, while Iris Hurst added further bronze medals in both the 400m Freestyle and 200m Butterfly. Several Warriors swimmers also reached finals and secured top-ten finishes against some of the country’s best young talent.

The success continued at the Swim Wales Summer Meet, where Emily Hall enjoyed an exceptional championship, returning home with six medals. Her outstanding performances included gold medals in the 200m Butterfly and 200m Individual Medley, silver medals in the 400m Individual Medley and 400m Freestyle, and bronze medals in the 200m Freestyle and 100m Butterfly.

The club also excelled in open water competition, with swimmers achieving podium finishes at the National Open Water Championships. Fiona Byrne secured silver in the 10km, Leo Craven won silver in the 5km, Ethan Craven claimed silver in the 3km, and Isla Perry earned bronze in the 3km event. Further congratulations went to Ed McDonald and Anujin Unur on qualifying for the National Open Water Championships.

Reflecting on the achievements, Head Coach Ant praised the dedication and commitment shown by the entire squad throughout the season.

“Our athletes have been exceptional throughout the season, demonstrating outstanding character, resilience and belief in their own abilities. Success at this level is never achieved by chance. It is the culmination of months of consistent training, challenging competitions and the determination to overcome setbacks.”

The club’s success is also a reflection of the support provided by coaches, volunteers, officials, parents, LiveWire and Warrington Borough Council, all of whom play a vital role in helping athletes reach their potential.

As the championship season comes to an end, Warrington Warriors can look back with immense pride on a summer that has seen the club create history, inspire the next generation of swimmers and firmly establish itself as one of the region’s leading competitive swimming programmes.
