Sun shines on GO TRI

The participants, volunteers and spectators braved the blistering heat to take part in the beginner’s event, held on Saturday 30 March. The event was organised for those that had never tried the three triathlon disciplines – swimming, cycling and running – all together.

The GO TRI event encouraged people to have a go at multi-sports events in a fun, supportive and friendly atmosphere.

Entrants completed a 300m swim, 5k bike ride and a 1.5k run. It was a perfect platform for those looking to improve their fitness or get involved in the sport.

John (50) a resident from Orford said: “It was a really well organised event and the third time I have completed it. It was more difficult than previous years due to the heat, but still just as enjoyable. It’s a nice introduction to a triathlon and it helps you learn about the transitions between each element.”

Emma Hutchinson, LiveWire’s Managing Director said: “LiveWire’s ambition is to get more people active. The GO TRI event is a fantastic opportunity to get more people involved in the sport of triathlon and for people to try a new activity for the first time. This demonstrates our commitment to supporting sports development and healthy fitness in the Borough.”

Rebecca Worswick, LiveWire’s Activities Support Officer said: “It was fabulous to watch the competitors swimming, cycling and running their way around a very warm and sunny Orford Jubilee Park. It was great to see so many people enjoying exercise in a fun, relaxed way.”
