Quit smoking this ‘Stoptober’ with help from LiveWire

Warrington smokers are being urged to kick the habit this ‘Stoptober’ – with extra help and support from LiveWire’s SmokeFree Warrington team on offer throughout October to mark the annual nationwide stop smoking campaign.

Smoking remains the largest cause of preventable death in England, and LiveWire’s stop smoking service provides free specialist stop smoking support and advice to people in the Warrington area.

The team also supports workplaces in the borough with guidance and support to make their organisation smoke free.

The disruptive impact of the pandemic on smoking patterns make this year’s Stoptober mass quit attempt more important than ever.

As such, this Stoptober, LiveWire want to make sure all residents and employees are aware of the stop smoking support and advice available, which includes a number of new methods of support from the friendly team. These include

  • Face-to-face appointments (one to one consultations/drop-in clinics)
  • Text message support
  • Telephone consultations
  • Facebook engagement
  • Support for those in hospital
  • Workplace events and sessions

Tom Kearney, Lifestyle Officer, Lead Smoke-Free, said: “SmokeFree Warrington is trying to make it as easy as possible for Warrington residents – and businesses – to access support this Stoptober.  To do this we have a combination of face-to-face and virtual support sessions available to. Many people try to quit smoking with will power alone, but the statistics show people are more successful in quitting with support – so please do reach out to our team so we can help.
