LiveWire is bidding to get Warrington moving on National Fitness Day, Wednesday 25th September, with the help of its mascot ‘Jet’.
National Fitness Day is an annual event that celebrates the fun of fitness and physical activity, while highlighting the benefits that leading an active lifestyle can have on our overall health.
LiveWire – which manages leisure services for Warrington Borough Council – is marking the annual day aimed at getting people moving by taking Jet out and about in Warrington alongside a Personal Trainer, showing people a few simple exercise moves they can do at home – ‘jumping Jets’, ‘robo squats’ and ‘star jumps’.
As well as dropping in to popular Warrington locations like Golden Square Shopping Centre, Warrington Museum & Library and the Town Hall, Jet will also be popping into one local primary school to pass on some keep fit moves to pupils.
Everyone who spots Jet on the day and completes his workout with him will receive a free day pass to one of LiveWire’s 6 leisure sites, and also be entered into a free prize draw to win a 6-month LiveWire membership.
Also follow LiveWire’s social media channels on the day for more information about Jet’s whereabouts, and for plenty of tips of how you can become more active in your day to day life. Tag Your LiveWire with your photos and videos of you joining in using the hashtag #FitnessDay to be added into the prize draw too.
Emma Hutchinson, Managing Director of LiveWire, said: “National Fitness Day is a key date in the health and wellbeing calendar – so it is very important to LiveWire that we join in the fun and celebrate the importance of keeping active.
“From aiming to do a few more steps every day to signing up to a charity 5K or trying a new group exercise class – there’s loads of ways people can start to move more and combat our often sedentary lifestyle
“So if you spot Jet out and about in our town on Wednesday 25th September do join in him in a few moves to celebrate National Fitness Day.
“But it’s not just about one day – LiveWire’s advisors are on hand at our 6 leisure sites across Warrington to offer advice and support to people wanting to become more active. We’d love to see you there.”
Warrington Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Community, Cllr Tony Higgins, said: “Getting active is one of the best things you can do for your physical and mental wellbeing. National Fitness Day gives us a great opportunity to encourage people across Warrington to build exercise into their everyday lives.
“There are so many different ways to get fit and healthy, in so many places – from our parks, to our LiveWire leisure centres, and from clubs to your own home. It can help you build your confidence, meet new people and have a lot of fun. So there’s nothing stopping you from kick-starting your new fitness habit!”
