Help LiveWire libraries to release books into the wild
BookCrossing is the act of deliberately ‘releasing a book into the wild’ by leaving it in a public place to be ‘caught’ by another reader who then passes it on.
How to get involved
To get involved, simply call into any LiveWire Library on Friday 18 May or Saturday 19 May and pick up a book to send on its travels.
This is an ideal opportunity for keen readers to leave books for others to read.
There are currently 1,884,999 BookCrossers and 12,429,481 books travelling throughout 132 countries.
Track you book as it travels around the world
Each book has been given a unique identity number, which has been registered by LiveWire on the BookCrossing website. As the book passes from reader to reader it can be tracked and connects people all over the world.
Residents can follow their book and find out where it travels to by logging onto https://www.bookcrossing.com
Let’s have fun together
Wendy Molyneux, Strategic Library Manager, said “We are really excited to be taking part in BookCrossing. It’s a fantastic way to celebrate and share the love of reading around the world.
“It’s easy to get involved. Pop into your local library and ask for a book. Once you have your book it is up to you whether you read it first, leave it in a public place or pass it onto a friend. Let’s have fun together and share the joy of books and reading.”
