Health and wellbeing event for cancer patients in Warrington

Broadcast live on air by Radio Warrington, the drop in event will take place on Wednesday 26th July at The Gateway Centre, Sankey Street from 4pm – 7pm with the aim of bringing patients and their families who have been affected by cancer together to focus on health and wellness.

Set up in a market place format, attendees will be able to speak to experts about topics such as relaxation techniques, benefits advice and support, exercise tips as well as being able to receive complementary relaxation treatments. Also available will be advice on feeling and looking good including make-up, hair and Tai Chi demonstrations, with goodie bags to take away.

The event will also give practical advice on ways to look after your day to day mental health.

Dr Sue Burke, Clinical Lead for Cancer and End of Life Care at Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Cancer can feel like a very lonely and frightening journey at times. A key time is after initial treatments are completed and patients are discharged for intermittent follow up by specialist teams. We hope to use this event to provide ongoing support, advice and help at this crucial stage, making it fun, interactive and practical with the opportunity to meet other people similarly affected helping people to feel they are supported and not alone.”
