Birchwood Tennis Academy Summer Success
Players competed in the Junior Road To Wimbledon International 2018 Finals, held at The All England Tennis Club on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 August. Jemma Cave, Lucy Cunliffe and Alice Shields all qualified through their groups to reach the knockout stages of their respective events. A special mention must go to Jemma and Lucy, who, together, won the County Girls Doubles event.
After brilliant success last year, members of Birchwood Tennis Academy also competed in the 120th Torbay Open this summer, on Saturday 4th to Saturday 11th August. This is the biggest Grade 3 tournament held within the UK so the standard was set very high.
All players reached at least the Quarter Final stages in their respective singles age groups. Birchwood also had representation in 3 final matches and secured 2 wins. Alice Shields & Alice Kranusoe won the U14s Girls Doubles Champions and Jordan Young & Alice Shields won the Open Mixed Champions.
Members of Birchwood Tennis Academy also competed in the Cheshire County Championships, with multiple winners, as well as a winner at the Lancashire County Finals. A breakdown of results can be found below.
