IMPORTANT NOTICE: LiveWire Leisure and Library sites to close until further notice from Thursday 5th November
LiveWire's Leisure and Library sites to close until further notice from Thursday 5th November.
Following Government guidance announced on Saturday, all of LiveWire’s Leisure and Library sites will be required to close from Thursday 5th November until further notice.
Subject to government clarification, it is expected that Burtonwood Post Office will remain open but no library offer will be delivered from the site.
Due to the closure of our facilities and services, LiveWire has suspended membership payments - no further payments will be taken until our services are resumed. This includes; fitness, tennis, swim lessons and gymnastics.
In addition, we would like to reassure our members that we are still here for YOU and your health and wellbeing needs.
Emma Hutchinson, Managing Director of LiveWire, said: "Our doors maybe closing once again but our staff are still here, and ready to do our best to help you and your families keep fit and well – mentally and physically – in the coming weeks.
"We look forward to welcoming everyone back through our doors as soon as is possible – and please keep in touch with us via our social media pages in the meantime and consider working out with us remotely via LiveWire@Home.
"As ever, thank you for your patience and support."
Warrington Borough Council's Cabinet Member for leisure and community, Cllr Tony Higgins, said: "I am, of course, very disappointed that we are having to shut the doors to Leisure Centres and Libraries again - particularly after the huge amount of work put in by so many people to re-open them and make them COVID-secure. However, we know that the safety of the public comes first.
"What I can say with real optimism is that the safety work already carried out will hold us in good stead. We will be ready to quickly get up-and-running once more, when it's possible to re-open. Our customers are a real community family, who value the services LiveWire provides, and we're looking forward welcoming them back, as soon as it's safe to do so."
Library Service Changes
We are doing our best to mitigate the impact the closure may have on our library members with the following:
- A fines amnesty - there will be no overdue charges for items issued from 1stMarch 2020
- All items borrowed will be due for return on 13th January 2021
- Any items currently on loan will automatically be renewed until this date
- Increased borrowing allowance of 20 items
- Access to a range of online resources to support home study
- Free online eBooks and eAudio service
- Online activities, signposting to reading resources, etc. on dedicated Facebook page

Over the past few months we have been working very hard on our new virtual fitness offer – LiveWire@Home – that you can access from the safety and comfort of your own home.
LiveWire@Home is available on the LiveWire App and gives you access to a combination of live streamed classes and an archive of On Demand workouts.
Following a soft launch where Select Members were given free access to the platform as part of its trial period, we are now in a position to officially launch LiveWire@Home with a NEW upgraded platform. And in response to the forthcoming lockdown there will be TRIPLE the amount of classes available to choose from.
The new LiveWire@Home platform is a chargeable service and can be accessed for just £5.99 per month.
If you would like to continue accessing LiveWire@Home during this lockdown period, please email email@example.com to request this. Please note that your direct debit payments will be adjusted to a monthly fee of just £5.99 for this service whilst our sites remain closed. Please note that accounts will be activated within 48-hours following the receiving of your instruction.
We hope members who chose to sign up for the new expanded LiveWire@Home will enjoy the wide range of classes delivered by our fantastic LiveWire instructors, allowing you to keep your body and mind active during the next few challenging weeks.
We were extremely touched by the comments posted on social media yesterday from members saying they wanted to continue to pay their membership fees during lockdown. We are automatically suspending memberships so this is not possible. Any members who would like to pledge their financial support whilst we are closed, we would ask you to consider this optional reduced monthly fee of £5.99 to access LiveWire@Home - whether you intend to use the platform or not. The income generated by LiveWire@Home will be extremely important to us as a Community Interest Company and the services we deliver.
