The Stay on Your Feet scheme is predominately for people aged 65 and over that want to get involved in a weekly exercise class to progressively improve overall fitness.
The 8 week programme consists of a weekly 1.5 hour session which is designed to help improve balance, flexibility and co-ordination as well as increasing muscle strength, cardiovascular fitness and flexibility.
A typical 1.5 hour session includes
- a 45 minute exercise session which predominately includes a range of exercises, (with a chair for support) and allows you to exercise at your own pace and intensity.
- a break to have a cuppa and a natter
- a 30 minute talk about relevant topics to improve health and wellbeing. These include talks about oral health from the dental health nurse and a nutrition and healthy weight talk to help manage a healthy weight.
