Using Our Libraries & Services

Using Your Library Card

You can use your card in any LiveWire library to borrow books and use the computers.

Loans
You can borrow up to 10 books and/or audiobooks for up to 3 weeks at a time.  If you need additional time, please request a renewal.

Reservations
You can request books from other LiveWire Libraries be sent to your local branch (cost is 50p for adult, 25p concession, free for children).  If we do not have the book, we can check to see if we are able to acquire it.  If we are unable to acquire the book you are looking for, we also offer an Inter-Library Loan (ILL) service for £5.25

Computers

Your card enables you to use a computer free of charge for up to 1 hour per day. Please click HERE for more information on use of computers.

Please bring your library card with you on each visit. You are responsible for your library card and anything issued on it. You should never let anyone else use your card.  You will be asked to pay a replacement cost for anything which is lost or damaged while on loan to you.

What If I Lose My Library Card?

Please let us know immediately if your card is lost or stolen to prevent misuse. If it is lost, you will need to purchase a replacement card for a charge of £2.30

Library Charges:

OVERDUE CHARGES

Adult charges – Books are issued free for 3 weeks, after which there is a daily charge of 14p per book per day (up to a maximum of £3.00 per book)

Young people charges- Books are issued free for 3 weeks, after which there is a daily charge of 7p per book per day (up to a maximum of £1.00 per book)

Children aged 12 and under- Books are issued free for 3 weeks.  There are no overdue charges on children’s books issued to a child’s ticket. Please note- Adult books issued on a child’s ticket and children’s books borrowed on adult tickets will be charged at the adult rates.

Concessionary rates- Users aged 60 and over and those in receipt of benefits are entitled to receive the reduced rate of 7p per item per day (up to a maximum of £3.00 per book).

ROOM HIRE CHARGES:

Flat rate of £15 per hour or £50 for a half day or £85 for a full day are charges to hire library space. Please note- There are separate charges to hire space in one of LiveWire’s ‘hub’ buildings.
