'Live well with LiveWire'

In line with Government directives we will be reopening a number of our sites for gym sessions and group exercise classes on Saturday 25th July as part of Phase 2 of reopening our leisure facilities.

LiveWire have reopened leisure facilities at Birchwood Leisure and Tennis Complex, Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub, Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub and Woolston Neighbourhood Hub. The offer varies across sites.

Broomfields Leisure Centre will re-open on Monday 2nd November. We currently don't have a date for the re-opening of Culcheth Community Campus.

The three Hubs have been selected for reopening their leisure facilities as they are the largest sites meaning it is easier to implement social distancing measures there. They also have flexible outdoor areas available for outdoor physical activity.

Broomfields Leisure Centre will re-open on Monday 2nd November. We currently don't have a date confirmed for the re-opening of Culcheth Community Campus.

The swimming pool at Broomfields Leisure Centre will reopen on Monday 9 November.

LiveWire’s Learn to Swim Programme is currently being delivered across Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub, Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub and Woolston Neighbourhood Hub, with a reduced programme. Current members are being prioritised for places at present but if you are interested in registering your child on future lessons please complete our online application form and they will be added to our waiting list.

The Learn to Swim programme will resume at Broomfields Leisure Centre on Monday 9 November.

Gymnastics lessons are not restarting at this time and we do not have a restart date currently confirmed. Once we have safely restarted the initial leisure activities planned in Phase 1 of reopening we will look at the potential to restart more of our activities according to official guidance and with the safety of members and staff as the priority. We thank everyone for their patience in the meantime.

Squash courts are now available to hire at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub and Woolston Neighbourhood Hub only. Bookings can be made online via the LiveWire app or by calling the Customer Hub on 01925572504. Court hire is included in your membership for those people who have reactivated their membership since the 25th of July.  All other users (so Starter & Saver members and Select members still on suspend) are welcome but will need to pay the applicable casual fees.

Visit https://www.englandsquash.com/back-to-squash/guidance-for-players for advice on returning to the court safely.

Due to the current local restrictions in place in Warrington over 18's should now only take part in indoor activity with members of your own household or support bubble. This means that all Badminton, Squash and Indoor Tennis court hire must be carried out in accordance with this (there is an exemption to this if the activity is organised for the purposes of someone who has a disability taking part and an exemption for children’s activities).

All LiveWire Select memberships will be reactivated from Tuesday 15th September – with the first payment collected on the usual Direct Debit date following this.

However we do recognise that some of our members still may not feel ready to return, or be able to. As such you can opt to keep your membership suspended by completing https://www.debitfinance.co.uk/payments/login.php. Please note you will need your DFC reference number to do this, which has been sent out to all members via email and text message.

For Annual payers, memberships will also be unfrozen from this date, with the applicable extra months added on at the end of your term to reflect the period of closure. Any Annual members wishing to remain on suspend should NOT follow the instruction for Direct Debit members, but instead email this instruction through to This email address is being protected from spambots. Yes – all group exercise classes and gym slots can be paid for on a pay per activity basis – booked and paid for in advance online.

Due to social distancing we will have to limit the number of people on site. In order to do this, we strongly recommend that you pre-book your visit in advance.

Customers are permitted to turn up for activities without prior booking but as all activities are subject to availability, we do strongly recommend booking in advance to avoid any disappointment on arrival at our sites.

We also ask members not to turn up and request access to sessions that are fully booked unless a place has been reserved in advance.

We reserve the right to revert to pre-bookings only, should we feel it is in the best interests of customers and staff.

Customers who do not book in advance will be required to register their chosen activity at the reception counter with a member of staff.

Booking will be available via the LiveWire website and App using your username and password seven days in advance. It is however important that you initially register for the Online service and we have your current email address registered on our system as this will act as verification, along with your membership card number.  We have prepared this flowchart to help you through the booking process.

There will be no shower or changing facilities available until further notice for our leisure members. Some facilities will be available for our pool users.

For all swimming sessions, we ask that you come ‘swim ready’ which is arriving with your swimming costume under your clothes and showering poolside before you enter the pool. Changing rooms will not be available for lane swimming prior to a session, except for a family swim session where families will be allocated a group changing cubicle.

For lane swimming, members will be asked to walk straight to poolside, where they will be asked to place their clothes and belongings in a tub which will be left on poolside during their swim. Lockers will not be in use.

Following a swimming session, poolside showers will be available for a quick rinse if necessary, we would like to encourage swimmers to shower at home prior to swim. Limited showers will be available on poolside and changing room cubicles will be in use for you to get dried and changed.  Showers in the changing rooms themselves will not be available for use.

Changing rooms will be cleaned regularly in between sessions.

There will be limited lockers available for short-term use at Great Sankey, Woolston and Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub.

Yes, a limited number of toilets will be open at each Hub site and subject to an enhanced cleaning schedule.

We have implemented a range of measures to help keep customers and staff safe. These include a contactless check-in process, new one-way systems around parts of the buildings and new exit routes in place. Social distancing will be adhered to in all areas including reception, gym areas and group exercise classes, including redistribution of gym equipment to allow for social distancing. Enhanced deep cleaning schedules have been established, including all equipment, and hand sanitiser will be available for customers and staff.

You may wish to familiarise yourself with the new equipment layout and floorplans at each site prior to arrival:

Gym sessions at our Hub sites have now been extended to 90 minutes. You will be able to move freely between the designated Fitness Suite spaces during your booked session although the customer journey is slightly different at each site so you may wish to familiarise yourself with the new equipment layout and floorplans prior to arrival – please click HERE

From Monday 2nd November, in response to member feedback, weekday gym slots will be extended to 2hours each. We hope this will give greater flexibility to members. These changes will be reflected in the online booking system from seven days in advance.

PLEASE NOTE: At Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub, in order to accommodate the needs of the High School and their occasional requirement for indoor PE space, a small part of the gym offer (Fitness Suite 2) may be out of use at short notice across the following gym sessions:

8:00-9:30 Mondays, Fridays

10:00-11:30 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays

12:00-13:30 Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays

14:00-15:30 Tuesdays

You will still be able to book on these sessions and in the event that Fitness Suite 2 is taken out of use, customers will still have access to Fitness Suite 1 (main gym space on first floor) and Fitness Suite 3 (studio on ground floor).

If the space is out of use, we will make you aware of this on arrival and ahead of your session where possible.

Following a positive response to our initial programme, additional classes have been added to the group exercise timetable at Orford and Great Sankey and are available to book now. The updated timetable can be found on our website here.

We have created an all-new timetable made up of a variety of classes and instructors across our sites, and in line with expected demand. We are still running with a reduced group fitness programme at the moment as we are not able to offer the full programme as it was prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. This is in the interests of safety for both our staff and members, and also in line with the anticipated demand. We have already added some additional classes to the programme and we hope to further develop our timetable offering (without compromising safety) in line with member demand, and of course whilst continuing to adhere to government guidelines.

Customers can only book a maximum of 2 activities per day: 2 classes, 2 gym slots, or 1 of each.

The standard fee for each group fitness class is £4.75 and £6.25 for a gym session (adults). 11-15 year olds are able to access the gym with a paying adult for a reduced price of £3.65. Reduced prices also apply for Saver and Saver Concession memberships.

Personal training will resume from Monday 7th September. As part of the phased reintroduction, this will work on the following basis:

  • Sessions should be arranged direct with the Personal Trainer
  • Payments should be made upfront either on site or by phone
  • Sessions must take place during current gym slot booking times
  • Once the session has been confirmed, the client will need to book onto the gym session online via the booking portal

Dedicated Junior Gym sessions will resume at Orford, Great Sankey and Woolston from Wednesday 9th September and at Birchwood from Monday 14th September.

They will run at the following times:

  • Weekdays: 4.00pm - 5.30pm
  • Weekends: 2.00pm - 3.30pm

Please note there will be no weekend Junior Gym sessions held at Woolston. There will also be no Sunday Junior Gym session at Birchwood with the site being closed.

Customers aged 11-15 may still attend the gym outside of dedicated Junior Gym sessions during this time but will need to be supervised by an adult (18 or over) on a 1:2 ratio (adult:child) and during the following times:

  • Monday to Wednesday – any time up to 6pm
  • Thursday & Fridays – any time
  • Saturday / Sunday – any time after 12pm

Customers aged 14-15 may attend the classes but will need to be supervised by an adult (18 or over) on a 1:2 ratio (adult:child).

No, for hygiene reasons mats will not be available for people to use in group exercise classes. Members who wish to use a mat will have to bring their own from home.

Yes, we have launched a new virtual membership called LiveWire@Home. LiveWire@Home is currently only available to our re-activated Select members, however it will soon be available to purchase for a fee of £5.99 month (date TBC).

No, unfortunately the crèche is not part of the Phase 1 opening. We do not yet have a confirmed date of when the crèche will re-open.

The water fountains will be out of use upon reopening. Vending machines will be available for use, in line with social distancing. Subway based inside Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub is now open.

We request that you still adhere to the social distancing rules in place within our gyms and studios for consistency and fairness to all customers whilst using our facilities. Members from the same household are permitted to share equipment.

Badminton courts are now available to hire at Great Sankey and Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub from Monday 17th August. Bookings can be made online via the LiveWire app or by calling the Customer Hub on 01925572504 from Monday 10th August.

Court hire is included in your membership for those people who have reactivated their membership since the 25th of July.  All other users (so Starter & Saver members and Select members still on suspend) are welcome but will need to pay the applicable casual fees.

Please view the Player Guidance documents available here https://www.badmintonengland.co.uk/return-to-play/  for advice on returning to the court safely.

Staff will be available to direct you and, if required, designated queue lines will be clearly marked. You will be manually checked-in by a member of staff. The self-check-in machines are temporarily not in use.

As per Government guidance all our customers are now required to wear face coverings inside all LiveWire buildings.

Face coverings are mandatory from entry to the building and throughout the customer journey including all internal queuing areas (not external) and when spectating activities within the building (e.g. swimming lessons).

The normal exemptions as stipulated by Government apply in terms of those who do not need to wear face coverings for example those with disabilities or certain health conditions, such as respiratory or cognitive impairments that makes it difficult for them to wear a face covering.

Face coverings can be removed when entering an activity space (e.g. gym, studio, poolside) for the duration of the activity.

You do not need to wear a face covering whilst in the gym or during a group exercise class but must do so if moving between separate activity spaces during your visit.

The toning tables will not be available for use at the point of re-opening Birchwood Leisure and Tennis Complex. There are a number of factors we have to consider before it is possible to fully re-open our buildings, including site-specific practicalities of maintaining social distancing and creating a safe journey for all of our customers. We regularly review the possible re-introduction of additional activities and facilities as part of on-going process and so we will update these FAQs accordingly alongside communicating the message to our members and the wider community once there are any further updates to report.

In line with other childcare settings, you would not be eligible for a refund on your Creche cost if we are unable to look after your child after you have presented due to a high temperature/illness, but you would not incur any cancellation costs for your activity.
