Free events and family fun as Libraries Week comes to Warrington

Warrington is set to celebrate Libraries Week with a packed programme of free activities, starting with a launch event at Bewsey Dallam Hub.

The celebrations begin on Sunday 31 May, from 12–2pm, where residents are invited to a Libraries Week launch event designed to showcase everything modern libraries have to offer.

Families can enjoy an afternoon of hands-on activities, creative experiences and free refreshments, with something to suit all ages. Attractions will include everything from fire engines and interactive displays to 3D printing demonstrations, alongside creative activities such as badge-making and musical spoons.

There will also be a free family swim session from 1:30–2:30pm, but this must be booked in advance.

Five days of free activities across local libraries

Following the launch, Libraries Week continues with five days of free events from 2–6 June, taking place across libraries throughout Warrington.

The programme offers a wide range of welcoming, accessible activities, including:

  • Children’s craft sessions
  • Children’s activity hours
  • Coding sessions
  • Dual language storytime

Most sessions are drop-in, making it easy for people to take part. The reminiscence sessions are the only activities that require booking, which can be done through your local Warrington library.

Celebrating the impact of libraries

Libraries Week highlights the vital role libraries play in local communities, offering more than just books. They provide opportunities to learn new skills, get creative and connect with others.

This year’s programme reflects that variety, with a mix of traditional and modern activities designed to help people of all ages discover something new.

Whether it’s trying a new activity, spending time with family, or simply enjoying what your local library has to offer, everyone is welcome to join in and celebrate how Libraries change lives.
